: Can I have a GPT partition and MBR partition at the same time
: Hello all
: Been on a few forums
: spoke to many that know more then me but can't quite answer my questions
: So this looks like a very out date web page forum with recent activity so though I might find someone on hear that understands a bit about the command prompts
: At the moment I have a laptop acer aspire E15 ES1-512-C5YW
: Which originally had windows 8.1 installed then windows vista and since lubuntu but now nothing
: with O/S on the HDD I would like to install win vista as one partition and lubuntu as another partition
: the problem is that vista is a MBR partition table and lubuntu (like win 8) is an GPT partition table
: I would like to split the disk into 2 partitions with there own unique tables
: But when booting up both O/S disks I only get the option using disk 0 and not one of the partitions I created
: PS I looked at the easy dos commands page on this site and found no Diskpart or list disk
Don't know much about Lubuntu/Linux, but it doesn't seem like there should be a problem with installing it on one partition and Vista (but why use memory-hog Vista?) on another. Disk partitioning is done using Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management.
Here is a pretty good tutorial at CNET:
